Built from scratch to land a complex global ERP

Lovehoney moved its UK business onto NetSuite with no ERP testing in place. We built it from nothing. A full test cycle that would take 12 weeks by hand now runs in 12 hours.

The challenge

Lovehoney had grown through acquisition and wanted one ERP across the group. Wow Tech, part of the same group, was already live on NetSuite in Canada. The UK business ran on manual, bespoke processes that relied on individuals' knowledge.

They needed:

  • The UK business brought onto NetSuite, with no existing ERP testing to build on.
  • End-to-end coverage across 50+ integration points, spanning Salesforce Commerce Cloud, NetSuite, order management, warehousing and finance.
  • The live Canadian NetSuite operation protected throughout.

Our approach

  • A programme-wide test strategy, reviewed and signed off by the NetSuite implementation partner, so it was clear from the start who tested what.
  • True end-to-end automation following real customer journeys from storefront through to fulfilment and finance.
  • A dedicated regression pack for the Canadian entity to safeguard live operations.
  • Automated test data for finance and UAT, so business users spent their time checking results, not keying transactions.
  • Data migration testing, so the business started on NetSuite with data that worked in its real processes.

Alongside the implementation partner

The implementation partner tested that the NetSuite build matched the specification. We tested that everything upstream and downstream of it worked together, across entities with different currencies and tax rules. That included testing the data migration.

Impact

  • A full regression cycle that would take 12 weeks by hand runs in 12 hours.
  • Over 1,200 automated end-to-end test cases across storefront, NetSuite, OMS and WMS.
  • The regression pack built during the implementation was used for Lovehoney's first NetSuite upgrade after go-live in 2022.
  • Lovehoney owns the tests and the framework.
  • 10,500 testing days saved through test automation.

"I find it hard to identify just one thing you do well. But if pushed, it would have to be accountability. I have lots of suppliers working for me and when things get tough (as they always do at some point in big projects) I often find their problems becoming mine.

With your team, that doesn’t happen. There's no panic, responsibility is never ducked, and I never become the 'delivery person of last resort'. Such a refreshing change!"

What happened next

Our work with Lovehoney didn't stop at go-live. The regression pack we built became an ongoing test service for the business.

Not on NetSuite?

The platform here was NetSuite. The approach works for any ERP that has to talk to a storefront, a warehouse and a finance team.
